Together for the well-being of children

The Group’s UniCredit Foundation’s Call for Europe initiative supports local projects for children, including those in Hungary, with nearly half a million euros a year. The projects aim at supporting children's education and learning, increase social equality, and promote inclusion.

Gift Matching programme

The Gift Matching Programme is an in-house scheme of donation by UniCredit Group, where people working at subsidiaries collect money for projects of non-profit organizations in November and December each year. UniCredit Foundation in the end matches the collected amount.

Corporate donation

In line with the international UniCredit Foundation's efforts, UniCredit's donations focus primarily on initiatives to support children's education and prevent early school leaving. Where possible, we provide support to organisations whose programmes reach a large number of beneficiaries nationwide.

Employee charity initiatives

Several times a year, our colleagues organise their own charitable initiatives. Charity cake baking, home renovation, chocolate, toy and clothing collections, blood donation and tree planting are all activities in which our colleagues participate several times a year, both by company and personal motivation.

Volunteering

Our colleagues are happy to volunteer to support programmes initiated or coordinated by our bank.

Tree planting

UniCredit has also joined the Hungarian Banking Association's Good Deed-Green Heart programme, which aims to raise awareness of human and natural values. Our company also joined the programme in 2022, and for the first time in the spring we planted 1 tree for every employee. This was followed in the autumn by another sapling planted for each of our customers who were the quickest to switch from paper to electronic monthly statements in our customer campaign. By the end of 2022, the Hungarian UniCredit "forest" had grown to 4,000 trees, and today it stands at 5,000. The planting was carried out at the Landscape Protection Area, in Ócsa, part of the Danube-Ipoly National Park, with the voluntary participation of our colleagues, who helped to save a special, centuries-old protected forest that is suffering from the effects of climate change.

Home renovation

Habitat for Humanity works in 70 countries around the world to ensure that all people can live in healthy, affordable homes. Their Second Chance programme provides families in need with long-term affordable homes by enabling them to move into renovated rental housing. With financial support from our bank, our colleagues volunteered to help make a Budapest apartment habitable for a family in need.

Blood Donation

Banking Blood Donors’ week is organised twice a year in cooperation with the Hungarian National Blood Transfusion Service and the Hungarian Red Cross, o the initiative of the Hungarian Banking Association. Blood donation is a very important social cause, and the donations of our managers, colleagues can help patients recover.
