ESG: governance

The G (governance) area of ESG focuses on initiatives that promote transparent and ethical operations of the bank by using corporate governance tools, be it creating opportunities for development, gender equality, or promoting intergenerational knowledge transfer.

Governance and ethics

To achieve our sustainability goals, we need clear and stable guidelines. Our Group's strategy is approved by the Board of Directors, supported by the Corporate Governance, Nominating and Sustainability Committee (CGN&S), which oversees sustainability issues within the UniCredit Group, monitors our progress, and ensures that it is in line with international guidelines.

The Committee plays an important role in ensuring that sustainability is present in the Group's business strategy and the highest ethical standards are met. Certain sectors and activities, which are sensitive to environmental and social risks, require a specific approach to the way we do business; we have relevant detailed guidelines and policies.

  • We cooperate with sustainability rating agencies, support investors' demands for transparency, and our ESG ratings and indicators are publicly available.
  • Our sustainability objectives, operating model, ethical documents, and sensitive industry guidelines are transparent and available on our website.
  • We regularly publish sustainability targets and results in our Integrated Report

Preventing corruption and complying with the law

Our bank provides a communication channel for employees, contractors, and other persons to report unacceptable behaviour. The Ethics Hotline offers the possibility to report any illegal, dishonest or unethical conduct that may violate any legislation, supervisory requirements, or rules and regulations of UniCredit Group and our bank.

Responsible investment and financing

As a responsible lender, UniCredit Bank supports all initiatives aimed at enabling customers to make responsible borrowing decisions, taking into account their full financial capacity and understanding both the opportunities and risks.
